My son never uses his voicemail box. In fact it's full. My mom thinks of voicemail like an answering machine, and if she could just get the voicemail and talk really loudly, my son would hear her and pick up the phone. It drives her crazy when she calls and he doesn't answer and she can't even leave a message. (His thinking is, he'll eventually see he missed a call, see it's from her and call her back.)
So, using a blend of IFTTT, texting, and a WeMo switch, I have it set up that when my mom calls, IFTTT sends a text message to my son tagged #callgrandma. The text message tag triggers the lights to blink (again via IFTTT). Blinking lights get his attention. He calls her back right away. Everyone is much happier.

I'm using a switch, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with bulbs. Just pick Wemo bulb instead of switch in the second and third recipes.
The first IFTTT recipe is
IF Android Phone Missed call from a specific number:
"If a missed call from (insert number here)"
THEN SEND Android SMS
"Send a text tagged #callgrandma to 14156302897"
(This is the IFTTT SMS phone number)
The second IFTTT recipe is
If send an SMS to IFTTT tagged #callgrandma
THEN WEMO Switch
Toggle Off and On
The Third IFTTT recipe is the same as the second, but this time the toggle is On then Off. (I'm trying to capture whatever state his light is currently in, and get it to blink).
I hope this helps!
