I had a lightswitch installed by a general contractor. It works intermittently via both manual switch and the app, but mostly will either not respond at all or turn on and immediately turn off with a popping noise, or just disappear entirely from the app. He's confident it is wired correctly, and the fact that it works fine sometimes implies that he's correct. I've updated the firmware as well as reset the switch multiple times.

I have 4 switches that all receive a signal. The three on the back porch work with automation. The front porch receives the signal and turns green, but the light rarely ever turns on. After a couple of pushes manually it will fire. I can force it on with the app: apple HomeKit. The automation always will turn it off at sunrise. It strange the off works and on raerely works. Is this a defective switch?

We'll check on this. Was this working fine before? Since when did you notice this behavior? Are your switches all running on the latest firmware? Have you tried rebooting your switches by turning Off the circuit breaker for a few seconds, then turn it back On?

I think it only worked a couple of time and stopped. Tried adding it to a working automation with the other three I mentioned. Looks like it gets signal as switch goes white to green, but wont switch on. After resetting the switch, same breaker as wifi, I lost the two other switches from being recognized by app. Removed them and now I can’t see them in my wifi settings to add them back to wemo app? Thoughts? I’ll let you know if front lights turns on tonight.

Ok, reset and updated everything. All 4 turned on yesterday and off today. Tonight my problem switch did not turn on, although it lit up green. Pressed it 4 times before it would turn on. Thoughts? Bad switch?

Let's try deleting and recreating the rule. Also, are your switches running on their latest firmware? Thanks for the help. Always good to look at the basics. The 10,000 hour bulb crapped out after a few months. No issue with the switch, as it is activated to green by the program. New buib=no problems.
